They stood the testi bought these for my grandson yet even my musician husband enjoy themThis is a nice set of bongos keeping in mind that I'm not a drummer but I do keep a few percussion instruments for accompaniment. These do require some setup. Once set up they are pretty resonant. Comfortable to hold.My sons have had so much fun with these bongo drums. I don’t think the sound is that great but the kids don’t care. They make up songs and play along.My kids love these drums, which are very tough, pleasing to play, look cool. I've played them with drumsticks like toms, we've beat on them like bongos, and they are just plain fun. They are much more sturdy than I expected and are not toy drums.Unlike my drum set, these have a real skin surface, which looks and feels (and sounds) interesting. The surface is really well secured to the drum body. The drums are easy to play in your lap, but on a table or floor they do not move around and have these little rubber feet (that don't pop off easily).You can be pretty creative with the sound. You get two drums that are close enough in pitch to be somewhat mindless rhythm, and far enough apart to be two notes for song-like playing. You can tune the drum with a little wrench they include, though you won't need to often because it seems to hold its pitch. Tuning is through tighting the legs under the rubber feet. It seems obvious but I can imagine people not realizing how drums get tight or loose.The clear colored body is made of very dense plastic, like a headlight on a car, and would take an incredible amount of force to shatter. We really love using these as a family and they are really good for introducing a child to percussion without damaging hearing.Bongos are great for beginners. Craftsmanship is good although the rubber for the feet are loose and fall off. Great sound quality.My bongos arrived minus one rubber foot piece. Otherwise, they make a nice instrument for accompanying the radio.
